I live in AR now, but as a child I can remember the sirens and taking shelter from the tornado. I was born in Chickasha, but grew up in Stillwater, OK. To this day, when weather gets bad, I don't listen to the news, I get the kids and go to my fathers house. He keeps a look out at the sky and lets us know when to get in a shelter. Now for the surname-WOODRUFF-I know where my father and his siblings were born, and my grandparents, both sides are buried in the cemetery at Geary, OK. I stlll have aunts and uncles living there, Hinton, and OK City. I am at a loss tho' for my grandfather G.N. Woodruff m. Necie Viola McCoy in Detroit, Red River, TX However, they moved to Hugo, OK where an uncle Spurgen Louis "Bozo" Woodruff was born. I am trying to trace family from both sides that remain in OK./TX. I hope to find someone who knows Necie Viola's Family. Her father was Flem and her mother was Mary Jane both buried in Detroit, TX. I can not find any more info than that. I have asked my dad and his two sisters, they can't remember anything about her family. It has been rather comical in my searches so far. I have met some really neat WOODRUFF cousins through the internet that they did not know were alive. I had also been told Spurgeon was never married, YET, we have a picture now of Spurgeon and his unnamed wife!! I am making plans to come to OK City to do some searching-but I do not know where to go, so directions, if anyone can tell me would be great! My WOODRUFF side is from Samuel WOODRUFF of SC.
