I have just begun researching my Stone/Macwater ancestors according to the death certificate of my grandfather and grandmother I have: Granddad: Eugene Vernon Stone Born: November 19, 1908 in Oklahoma. (I have no idea if he had siblings or not) D: March 17, 1991 Parents: Walter F. Stone birthplace: Oklahoma Mary McWaters birthplace: Arkansas Grandmother: Lizzie May Macwaters-Stone Born: March 5, 1908 in Oklahoma (she had 3 sisters living as of her death on Feb. 21, 1988) Parents: Arthur Macwaters birthplace: Arkansas Julia Rogers birthplace: Texas My question is can I get a copy of Vernon's and Lizzie's birth certificates? When did Oklahoma start recording births? I have no idea what county. Their children were also born in OK but sometime around 1950 or earlier they moved to Arizona and then to California in the late 1950's. Where do I write for this information and how much does it cost? Is there a Historical Society that has this information? I was going to write to social security and get their applications but that could take at least 3 months to get, I hear. I got the soundex for 1910 and was not able to locate Eugene Vernon on it. I know that the death certificates are only as reliable as the person giving the information, but at least they know more than I do. Does this family sound familiar to anyone. Any help or suggestions would be helpful. Glad to see the tornado did not harm any of my genealogy brothers and sisters. I really enjoy all of the stories and information that this list gives. This is a very informative and friendly bunch of people. I have been in the background just watching. I am also in the process of typing out the soundex roll that I have for Oklahoma right now. There are some really interesting names on this roll, also there are quite a few Indians on it. The soundex roll I have is T1273 - 114 OK S340 - S360, the first name on the roll is S340 STELLE, SAMUEL and goes on from there so any names before him would be on the previous roll which I do not have.
