Sorry, because of a busy schedule I am just now catching up on email - so, didn't read the questions concerning Bearden, Okfuskee County, until now. Here's a web page from the Okfuskee Roots Web site http://www.rootsweb.com/~okokfusk/histories/hiofbrdn.htm That tell of Bearden's history. It seems that many of the 1890-1900 settlers of these area came from Alabama, including my Collier family - some of whom are buried in Bearden Cemetery, as well as Highland in Okemah and Sand Springs just off I-40. Bearden is a lovely, secluded area. It's easily found, but don't try it if the ground is wet! The well-maintained dirt road is treacherous when wet. Cheryl OK surnames – Collier, Coffey, Ferrell, Autrey, Russell - as well as: Puckett, Grider, and more
Thanks. I remember my mother mentioning it but never did really know where it was.
