    3. Rita, Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, my BROWN relatives do not have any record of living in Georgia. If you have a John BROWN listed from Scotland, however, it might be a lead for me and I'd be interested in learning more. My family stories don't include anything about Georgia, but it is not entirely beyond possibility....my actual records are sketchy on that era of history. Thanks! 3. Hi Holly, I am trying to find a Williams family in Oklahoma during the same time period you mentioned, but don't expect to ever find them. My grandmother was Louisa Ella (Mollie) WILLIAMS b1876 TN or KY. She married my grandfather, James Wiley KING b1854 in OK I think. They were probably married in 1888-89 but I have not found a marriage and probably will not as they were likely married in Indian Territory. I have exhausted the possibilities there with what few records there are. Family history says that Mollie was at least half Cherokee and that her mother was a servant to a Williams family. She was born out of wedlock and her father's family raised her. I don't know what happened to her mother. For that matter I don't know what happened to any of her family as I don't have a clue as to who they are. None of the Williams families I have found in the area during that time period have seemed to have a connection. Just thought I would mention this since you are researching WILLIAMS in Oklahoma too. What I really wrote to ask is if the BROWN family you are researching was ever in GA. I have a couple of books that are about Cherokee and white families in the Eastern Cherokee lands of NC, GA and TN during and prior to the Removal. There are a lot of names and a great deal of information in these books--though it centers mostly on GA. I checked and found there were a lot of BROWNs--and a few Johns were mentioned. Bear in mind that these BROWNs were in many cases, whites men who intermarried with the Cherokee. If you think your BROWNs were in or near GA during the 1830's and thereabouts and have any associated names, I could send you the information from the book that might interest you. 3. I would appreciate it if you would check your sources for the WELLS, KINDRED, or EASTIN surnames? My gggrandfather, Isaac K {Kindred] WELLS born c 1830 in TN (probably eastern part)married Martha Ellen EASTIN. Isaac's father was reportedly born in Georgia. Isaac and Martha were in IL and then migrated to AR and further to Indian Territory, settling first in Pittsburg County. Parts of the family moved to other counties, including Craig. Isaac has been a real dead end and I am really searching for a clue as to where I might start to locate his family in TN/GA. TIA, Sharon What I really wrote to ask is if the BROWN family you are researching was ever in GA. I have a couple of books that are about Cherokee and white families in the Eastern Cherokee lands of NC, GA and TN during and prior to the Removal. There are a lot of names and a great deal of information in these books--though it centers mostly on GA.

    3. Hi, I'm looking for information on two families that lived in Oklahoma pre-statehood and after. 1. George Henderson WILLIAMS and his wife Betty SMITH Williams lived in Courtney, Love County, OK. They had 2 daughters, Wilhelmina and Ruby, and one son, Gross Henry (b. 1909, d. 1975). I know Gross Henry was born in Courtney, but I'm not sure of the others. I'm looking for any info on George Henderson and Betty. I believe George died in 1924 and Betty died in 1917, but I've been unable to verify. Anyone familiar with them or have any information at all? 2. Sallie BROWN (maiden name unknown) - She was apparently full blood Cherokee, but I'm not able to find any info on her. Here's what I do know: She was born in the early 1800's or late 1700's in North Carolina and married John BROWN, who was born in Scotland and traveled to the U.S. Family legends say she traveled west on the Trail of Tears. Sallie and John had a son, JAMES STANFORD BROWN (b. 9/30/1818 in TN, d. 11/12/1914 in Maud, AL). He served in the Confederate Cavalry in the Civil War. He married a woman with the last name HODGE, and they had a son, WILLIAM JASPER BROWN (b. 1/9/1860 in MS or AL, d. 3/16/1931 in Wilson, OK). William lived in Carter County, OK (Wilson) for many years and is buried there. I am interested in any information regarding his mother (Unknown HODGE), Sallie BROWN, or anything else someone can share regarding this family history. Thanks for your time! 2. DARLA MYLER
    3. Hello List Has anyone heard of Ok Transfer and Storage Company out of Oklahoma City? Ambose (A.C.) Weicker was the founder and president of this company. Ambose Weicker died in 1935. Ambrose had a son Robert died in 1931 who was secretary-treasure of this company. Robert was also a very active civic leaded and city councilman. It has been told that city hall closed the day of his funeral. Ambose also had a brother Robert who ran a sister company Weicker Transfer and Storage Company out of Denver Colorado. If anyone knows of or have information regarding the Ok Storage Co. it would be greatly appreciated. I should mention that Ambrose was a brother to my grandmother. Thank You Darla annie8@socket.net

    3. Dear List Members, Many of you may already know about the "Historical Maps of the United States" site located at http://www.lib.utexas.edu/Libs/PCL/Map_collection/histus.html But I just found it and it is wonderful. I have spent the last few hours going through some of the maps and it helped me so much to understand some of the strange migration patterns of my ancestors. Enjoy, and have a wonderful weekend. 1. [OKROOTS] From List Mom Regarding Memorial Day Postings
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, Remember as you think about posting a message to the list regarding Memorial Day, that some of our members are not from the United States. We have members from England, Canada, Mexico, Scotland, Ireland and Australia, just to name a few. Please keep this in mind as you send your messages regarding honoring those of our ancestors who fought in wars, served in the military and gave their lives for our beliefs and for the freedoms we hold dear. Our members from other countries also have ancestors who fought, and gave their lives for the beliefs and for the freedoms of their country. We in the genealogical community need to continue to remember that we are a world wide family which is formed from those of many nations, cultures, beliefs and history. This Country was built by those who migrated here from lands around the world. Their history is a part of us as our history is a part of them. I ask you to remember all those who have given their lives in military service world wide this weekend and please show the respect due to each of our members, no matter where they are from or what country they or their ancestors fought for. I appreciate each of you. Have a save weekend. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [OKROOTS] Jennie Smith
    2. I have a postcard which I believe was mailed from Muskogee. The postmark is partially illegible. The legible part shows 'Musko' -- 'Okla' -- 'Feb 2'. The year may have been 1919. This postcard was sent by Jennie to her father Captain John G. Smith in Charleston, SC. Jennie was born in Charleston c.1878 and was still there at the time of the 1910 census. If anyone thinks Jennie may be a part of the line they are researching, I will be glad to exchange information. JON Jnich57@aol.com
