We are looking for our 2nd cousin, CLIFFORD HOPPER, (may have used the name 'HOWARD') who probably went to Duncan schools, graduating in the late 1940's or early 1950's. He moved to Dallas, TX before 1968. Our grandfathers were brothers...his was WILLIAM O. HOPPER 1866-1946 / ours was JOHN ALBERT HOPPER 1869-1927. Howard's (Clifford's) parents were JOHN & BEATRICE HOPPER who had an ad agency in Duncan, OK. John died there in 1977. John also worked at one time for the DUNCAN BANNER. We have a book ready for print on the Hopper Family History and Howard has information we need to complete it! We also want to make this book available to him and his family. He replied to my HOPPER FORUM query, but didn't send me a direct email! The email address he left is incorrect....and I've not been able to find him! He had information for us and family history he wanted us to have. :{ Thank you Oklahomans for helping these Oregonians!! Al & Phyllis Hopper If anyone knows how I can find him, please let me know or have him get in touch with me.

I am repeating my surnames because new people read the postings daily. My ancestors were among the first white settlers in Oklahoma -- JEFFERSON CONNER had seven children and had been living near present-day NORMAN for 13 years as of 1890. I believe JEFFERSON CONNER was either a PREACHER/TEACHER working with the indians -- or a TRADER/MERCHANT. The BECKNERS cannot be located until 1900 -- and they are in WOODS and BLAINE COUNTIES. However, my grandparents, WILLIAM H. BECKNER AND CYNTHA LOUISE CONNER, were married shortly after 1890. Thank you, C. Beckner Shanahan
Hello J.R., I come from a pretty long line of MUSE's. However, I don't have any of the other SURNAMES you mention. My MUSE line descends from NC, MS, AR, TX to OK. Within OK, my MUSE family was in Carter Co., and Love Co., possibly Jefferson Co., OK but not Tillman Co., OK that I know of. There are several good MUSE sites that you might want to check: http://206.139.152.113/KnightLines/index.htm http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/jwmuse/musefam.htm Good Luck & Happy Hunting, Debi TATE/MICHAEL/WOODS/BIVENS/SHULL/ROGERS/SMITH/OSBORNE - WILSON/HESS/COLLINS/PORTER/HENDERSON - MUSE/LAMB/HALLOWELL/BEACH/BUTLER/DILL/DALTON/BRASWELL/POPE - REAVES/ANTHONY/GUNTER/KIGER/BARNES/CLARK - J. OKbits Visitors counter rolls over To 50,000 Several years ago with the help of my "Mentor" Mike Taylor, I started uploading newspaper articles online which I called "Oklahoma Obits and Tidbits", I changed the name after Sharon McAllister wrote me and in the subject line had shorten the long name to OKbits. The page outgrew my personal family website and in February '98 Rootsweb donated a site just for "OKbits". With the contributions from so many wonderful people, Okbits has grown beyond my expectations. I am seeking information on a HAYES family who took my grandmother and her brother in after they were orphaned. In the 1900 Choctaw Nation census she is shown living with a Charles D. HAYES and Sallie J. HAYES, in Coalgate Twp T1NR11E- HOuse #1. My grandmother's name was Ora Avalene THOMAS, born January 26, 1887 at Dennison, Grayson Co. TX. Her younger brother of John Henry THOMAS. According to relative, the Hayes were related to my grandmother. My question is- How were they related? Ora Thomas' parents were John Milton THOMAS b. abt 1863 ? parents unkown and Lucinda Fairbelle "Belle" BRADY from Wayne Co. TN. daughter of Joseph Jackson BRADY and Almedia BUTLER. Any info on these folks will be greatly appreciated. Sharon Jung fbgtitle@ktc.com

Sorry, he is not listed. Probably because the book was published in 1911 - after he was already dead.
