Yes it will, but I copy & paste the orginal e-mail address back into the message, especially if I am sending the message to another list, [don't do a forward] it's better this way then the message isn't to long. Others researching the same people or area. If you can help me at all, please write: texas@morgan.net
I know how things can snowball. For the record....I appreciate all the questions and answers I see in all the e-mails that I receive. OKROOTS is not the only genealogy mail-list that I subcribe to. I get tons of mail. I actually read every one. You never know when something or someone mentioned in the body of the message and not in the subject line is something that you will be interested in. At this point (and OKROOTS-L has not been going that long) I can pretty much tell from the name of the sender if I am interested, but I do scan through quickly anyway. Everyone please keep up the good work. Lee Ann Seideman Jim Little wrote: > I think I started this by forwarding the request for info about Central > State Hosp in Norman. Hi, I would like the mail as it is already. Print Q. and A. Dortha
I think I started this by forwarding the request for info about Central State Hosp in Norman. It was our thought that the purpose of this mail list was to glean information from all who participate. While I will agree, some of the messages are of no importance to me specifically, I have learned things that have broadened my knowledge of Oklahoma and have brought us new discovery sources. We would like to see the Q's and A's continue being routed through the OKROOTS. Because of someone's response, each of us may make connections never anticipated. Appreciate all of your contributions, Beth & Jim Little
I hope not too, but you really do need some guidlines, though they should be simple and not too restrictive, so far I haven't seen anyone trying to restrict anything just how to get the info in the subject line so you won't be opening mail relating to Cook when you are not looking for Cook, hope this eases your concerns, Bill Cook In a message dated 9/17/98 4:10:15 PM Central Daylight Time, oden@cdsnet.net writes: << Oh dear, is this going to be another of those lists where a few try to tell everyone else how to post?? Thank you, I learn something new everyday. Also, If you come across a rpely like this and want to reply to the person who wrote the original message isn't it true that you can use the OKROOTS-L search engine at http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl and pull up the original message? That will give the email address for that person, if I understand that correctly. If some kind soul could help me find the descendants of Mike and Rebecca Jane Stott or Stotts of Waurika, Jefferson Co., OK., I would be forever grateful. Rebecca Jane was my G/Grandmother who I never met. If anyone is searching OBITS, please check out her's: Sept. 9, 1936 and if anyone is near Waurika cemetary, I would like a rendering or photo of her tombstone. Thank y'all so very much! J. R. I say post it to the list, I also had someone in the Norman hospital and was glad to get the information ---------- From: Mingzmom@aol.com To: OKROOTS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [OKROOTS-L] e-mail addresses, please! Date: Thursday, September 17, 1998 8:53 AM Actually, all anyone has to do is hit "reply" - or "forward" and their e-mail software should automatically send info to person requesting it. You have to go out of your way to send mail to the whole group. I heartily agree that most of us don't care about the name of a hospital in Norman. However, everyone is fallible and it's no big deal. As Bill said, you learn something every time you read a posting. I personally am looking for information on BOWLES & DAILEY but you never know when someone may not post your names but there might be a question about the area they lived in that be of help to you. You can write an answer directly to the person submitting the query if you would prefer it not going on the List.
