Stidem is in McIntosh County and FYI. There is a fairly large cemetery in Stidem called Moore Cem. I've been there a couple of times, but it's been many years ago. Hi Everybody This is a site where you can list those death/birth/marriage certificates you ordered only to find out they weren't who you thought it was, in fact you have no idea you they are. List them on this site "UNK.. http:www.rootsweb.com/~okbits/main.html to see if someone else might by looking for them. This site is based on OKbits only until Marti finds a home for it, at that time a new URL will be posted. Albert Sidney DICKSON married Edna HUMPHREY on January 31st 1912 in Liberal, Kansas. He shows up in the 1910 Beaver County OK census age 43. He was born on February 1st, 1866 in Andrew County, MO. He became a State Supreme Court Judge in Oklahoma City, OK. Would anyone have any information on Albert Sidney DICKSON's tenure as a judge? Also, any information on the DICKSON & HUMPHREY (of Balko, OK) surnames would also be most welcome. Betty :-0)
Just wanted to say that the work you are doing on the Okbits is wonderful. I am really enjoying it so much, though it has spoiled me. When I go to other sites looking in AR for an obituary and TX for my grandmothers info it just isn't there. makes me proud to be an Okie, but sometimes wish you were working on the AR counties or TX counties I need! ha ha. I have added another CCHelper file to OKbits. This file contains the special pages like Marriages, Out Of State Obits, Sunray Oils, and ect. so these special pages will also have a searchable index. Now when you click on (for an example) "BISHINK" The Choctaw Tribal Newspaper, you will find the link to the index which you can search by surname or county. Hopes this makes OKbits easier for everyone to search. (copied from some email I sent out personal, earlier today) Lesse....intruder lists. I call them censuses, but they really are not, they are more like indexes, that tell you where you can go to find the complaint on an intruder. A little bit of Oklahoma History is neccesary I suppose to really explain it, and my explanation is a simplistic one, so forgive me. Indian territory was made up of Individual Indian Nations. This meant that each one of these Indian Nations had their own government, etc. Now, "intruders" were basically like "illegal aliens". White people on Indian land, or in the Indian Nations without the permission of the tribe. Since there is not really a census in Oklahoma per se before 1900 (there are some, like the 1890 partial, the 1860 as part of Arkansas Territory and tax stuff) The intruder lists are another source for finding white people in Indian Territory before the openings of various Indian Lands in the Land runs. Intruders were different from "Boomers" and "Sooners". Boomers were a group of people who were in favor of opening the Unassigned lands to ownership. These people abided by certain "homestead laws" and were legally within the unassigned lands before the land runs. "Sooners" were those people illegally in the unassigned/indian lands just prior to opening, (like the day before). They usually snuck in at night and staked a claim before the actual gun was fired to start the run. so there you have it. probably confused you more than cleared it up. Nalora
