I have added the GANNONs to my list of names because they were very well known in the Enid area. My grandmother was KATIE GANNON's sister. My immediate family names are: CYNTHA LOUISE CONNER, WILLIAM HENRY BECKNER, RACHEL LUTHER CONNER PEARCY, JEFFERSON CONNER.The CONNERs lived in the Norman Oklahoma area. The BECKNERS, PEARCYS AND GANNONS were all over the place, ie: WOODS COUNTY, CANADIAN COUNTY, WOODWARD COUNTY AND BLAINE COUNTY. They were there from 1877 until well into the 1900's. In the early years, they CONNERs were probably teachers with the Indians. C. Shanahan

Forgot to mention that the family lived in the Mt. Park, Kiowa Co. area. Shortly (before?) after he drowned they moved to their farm on Red River located in (Altus area) Jackson Co. Wasn't the Wannette doctor's name SANDERS? I can check it out further if anyone's interested. Beth Little
It was meant to be. I picked up a little bio called "Growing up in Indian Territory" today at the library and lo and behold without meaning to, I pick up a book that lists and has a nice 3 page write up about the COOK gang. (Also sites a source) Members of the COOK gang: Leader: William Tuttle COOK Crawford Goldsby "Cherokee Bill" Lon GORDON Henry MUNSON Sam MCWILLIAMS "The Verdigris Kid" George SANDERS Jess SNYDER William FARRIS Thurman "Skeeter" BALDWIN Elmer "Chicken" LUCAS Curtis DAWSON Jim FRENCH (former member of the STARR gang) Areas mentioned for robberies: Vinita, Claremore, Coretta, Red Rock, Chandler, Choteau, Ft Gibson, Nowata, Lenepah. William COOK was captured in a sod house in Chaves County TX fleeing to Mexico when most of his gang was captured. Main year active: 1894-1895. He was 21 years old at capture on Jan. 11, 1895. I'm posting this to the list also in hopes someone can figure out how to look up the Shrine Temple in Guthrie, I can't seem to! If you can contact the Srine Temple in Guthrie they are very kind about sharing information. I had a picture that was supposed to be of the 32nd degree Mason graduating class in 1903 and contain my GGGrandfather. I was taken down into a recreation area where they had pictures of all the classes and each was accompanied by a listing of who was who. This is the only known, existing picture of my GGGrandfather. I am not even positive about her being a teacher, but her name was Jane Condry, could be Elizabeth Jane Condry, and she was full-blooded Cherokee indian. Can anyone help? Thanks, Tina

When my 95 year old Grandmother Edith Bell (HURD) BURNS died recently, (Sept 10, 1998) I acquired all her photographs and TWO High School Yearbooks for the years 1919 and 1920 SHAWNEE. My most precious picture of my grandmother comes from her Junior year in High School, and as I was looking through the yearbooks I thought how awful it would be if other families had not preserved the photos made during this time and did not have them. So...I talked to Sharon about offering Laser copies of the pages within the books to people who have family members pictured in the yearbooks, on her OKBits page...and guess what? IT IS THERE!! Check it out if you had family in POTTAWATAMIE COUNTY in 1919 and 1920. You might find *I* have a photo of them!! I have not finished the 1919 list but finished the list of 1920 students and faculty today. The 1920 Faculty/ Seniors / Juniors list is already on the page. I should have the 1919 list by next week. Other things I have in my possession: circa 1910 Green Country School, Trousdale, OK, Pottawatamie County. One room school house, Only my family members are identified. 1945 FIRST and SECOND grades, Fort Supply School, Woodward County, all children identified, (My Grandmother's sister, Rosa (HURD) HIGHT was the teacher. Things I gave to Sharon to have scanned for the pictures page (before I turn these photos over to the Oklahoma Historical Society per my grandmother's wishes) are: Unidentified Police Force (probably Shawnee) 1956 Fort Gibson Dam Personnel 1945 group photo. (Only one person identified, my kin) and a few odds and ends of unidentified people... I have to of course charge for copies of these photos, But I tried to keep the cost down to what it would cost me and to get the highest quality copy. Hope you find a picture of a relative. 8) Nalora
