    3. I find one of the map cd-roms a great source of help in understanding where my ancesters lived. I can zoom in and out, print, anotate, trace roots and distances and do just about anything else I want. I've had three different mapping software titles and find Microsoft Streets is the one I like most [not an add just my opinion]. Bill Walsh

Thanks to anyone who has the time and/or is willing to do that. Also is there anyway I can find out about a boarding house that my great grandmother supposedly ran in Oklahoma City in about the 1920's and 30's. 2. Sharon Hill
    3. I am trying to locate a person that the kids call Coach Driggers - but this isn't Coach David Driggers. We think this other coach is our cousin as many kids have mistaken Coach David for him, so we believe they look quite a bit alike, plus we have a cousin we have been searching for in Oklahoma. We aren't sure where he is located, but it may be around Ok. City or an outlying area. If anyone can help us with this & his first name, we sure would appreciate it. Thanks a lot. I have copies of various historical maps of Oklahoma as well, that I copied out of "The historical Atlas of Oklahoma" by John W. Morris, who consequently wrote one of my favorite books "Ghost Towns of Oklahoma". Maps tell you other things as well: Where was the water source? What roads were in existence? How populated was the area? What is the nearest large city to the home of my ancestors? A note on Vinita: It is the home of one of Two state mental hospitals. The other one is in Norman. Shanahan Another reason why you really need an atlas: You can write on it...draw lines from one community or another, study the geography, even mark known locations of people within a general area...They are useful to keep with your gen research materials... The internet has some great mapping resources...I keep some of the best ones bookmarked...but you can't beat pouring over an atlas from time to time...especially in areas with rugged terrain. Another great resource you really can't beat, but we forget about all the time are state history books - the type they study in HS, or better yet, in college. They are invaluable for understanding the early settlement patterns in a state, and often answer some of the questions about why people moved where when they did. And if you can find an old economic history textbook, grab it...it will give you clues to things like when depressions happened (often caused people to move), when railroads were built or major strikes happened...or oil was discovered in an area...all these can come in handy trying to figure out where to look next...
