A kindred spirit! Given that time frame and your earlier references to Pottawattomi Co., I'm compelled to ask -- is it possible you have some Absentee Shawnee roots? 1. [OKROOTS-L] Yearbooks -- 1934 & 1935
    2. Sharon McAllister
    3. Among my mother's keepsakes, I've found two books from the Oklahoma High School Honor Society -- 1934 and 1935. For each school, these give the name of the person who reported the honor student, then list the names of individual students in order of class standing within the school, and indicate the student's class [9 - 12]. I'll be glad to do lookups, but these books aren't indexed so I MUST have the name of the town as a starting point and if there was more than one school its name would certainly help. Sometime after it passed 50 pages in length, I decided that was a BAD idea. I find it much easier to use now that I've split it up. The cemetery plot ownership info is in one list, the newspaper tidbits in another, and the memories in my FTM database. Sample question to Mother, regarding someone I can't place in the family: Why did you call him Uncle Dave? Answer. Uncle Albert [her granduncle, Albert COLE] married Ida ECKERand Ida's sister, Mattie ECKER, married David KING. I treat those memories as very important clues about the ties among the old families. There was a time when children did NOT call adults by their first names, yet "Mr." or "Mrs." wasn't considered appropriate within the family. In Luther, that means LOTS of honorary aunts, uncles, and grandparents. If you want to see my newspaper tidbits, they're accessible through either OKbits or the Oklahoma Co. page. But that's just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. If you want a lookup for someone who was in the Luther area in territorial days, please write to me. [I also have some limited information on newcomers.] Sharon McAllister 73372.1745@compuserve.com

    3. Hi gang, I have a question. I am in the process of recording the Yeager Cemetery. My dad grew up in this area and went to high school in yeager and knew many of the people buried here. I know that it is not the norm, but should I include some of his memories as I type this up? Sometimes he will remember that this married so and so, his parents were, his team of horses were so big they almost couldn't get under the barn roof. Do you want this info added? Is it against policy to do this? Please let me hear from you. Vickie Neill Taylor flip@chickasaw.com

    2. I am researching the DUNN/HARRIS/SLAVEN/RICO line from Kiowa County, OK. I live in Oregon and find it difficult to do researching this far away. I sure would appreciate any help anyone can give me. If you are from this area or have access to records from Kiowa County, OK from the early 1900's I sure would like to hear from you. I am trying to prove my Native American lineage. I have been told that the SLAVEN girls were kin to Chief Greenwood LeFlore. Two of them married RICO brothers, one married a HEROLD and a DUNN, and one married a FINE and a HEROD (no L). I am looking for marriage records, death records, obits, births, census, etc. If you can help me I thank you in advance and wait anxiously to hear from you. Carrie in Oreogn
