City Coffey Funeral Home has undergone a few name changes over the years. The current name is Norwood-Leonard Funeral Home. Their telephone number is (580) 286-3375 and their address is P.O. Box 448, Idabel, OK 74745. I talked with them today and they indicated that they would be glad to check their records back to 1959. A fire destroyed the records from before 1959. They do not charge for the information but will not send it to you without a SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope). Please be sure to thank them for the information. I have the same thing. Funny that when I looked for my indian all I found (and it fell in my lap, literally) was where she is buried. We plan to go down there (my niece and I) on our next road trip. I copied this document, but really everything is there. The copier was on the fritz too, so I had to get the copy in parts. (man will I be glad when all the money is raised for the new building and EQUIPMENT!) I will ask in my next Indian Archive day if there is a microfilm index to people who were actually issued permits. I have a feeling your Robert will not be there, however, I think your best bet, is to buy Shirley's book and see what he has documented, basically he has researched your family for you, or at least goodly parts of it. He is good with backing up his work with sources. Nalora

    2. Sure could be some connections. My ggggrandfather was ELIJAH WILLIAMS, he had the following children that I know about: JOHN BRAGG WILLIAMS (my ggrandfather), MOSES WILLIAMS, JEDADIAH (sp?) WILLIAMS, OSCAR WILLIAMS, SAMUEL WILLIAMS, WALTER WILLIAMS. JOHN BRAGG WILLIAMS had the following children that I know about: ESTELLA B. WILLIAMS, ADA ETHEL WILLIAMS, JESSIE WILLIAMS (f), WILLIE ELMER WILLIAMS (my grandfather), and JOHN THEODORE WILLIAMS. The 1880 censusshows they were in Kansas. 1890? The 1900 census shows JOHN BRAGG and his family in IOWA Township, LINCOLN County (haven't found the others yet). 1910 they were up in ELLIS county. So. Why are you looking for JOHN WILLIAMS? It is listed in the book: "Ghost town's of Texas" (pgs 36-38) The location info on these pages says it is: Doan's crossing may be found at the juncture of Farm to Market road 2916 with Farm to Market road 924 about 3.1 miles east northeast of US Highway 283 in Northern Willbarger County, TX. There is a nice long write up of this town in the TEXAS Ghost Towns book by: T. Lindsay Baker. Nalora

    1. [OKROOTS-L] Oklahoma Census Index for 1900-1910
    2. Jerry D Sharrett
    3. Hi, Does anyone know if there is a census index for Oklahoma for 1900 and/or 1910? Some of my ancestors left East Tennessee before the turn of the century in a covered wagon. This is according to my grandmother in another line (she knew them). They were James b c1796 TN and Mary b c1806 TN Hughes. In the East, Byron Sistler and others published indexes for the census. If I can find a source for the Oklahoma indexes, maybe I can get someone to do a lookup, or have my local library borrow a copy of the book through AGLL. Thanks, Jerry D Sharrett 1104 Buchelew Dr Kingsport, TN 37663 423-239-8975 jsharret01@sprynet.com
