I do not live in an area where the microfilm is available at my public library. I believe that the volunteers understand that before I order something I will not need, I would like to try and find out if the people listed could possibly be related to mne. I am willing to look up whatever I can. Obviously I looked at the Dawes Roll myself. I have requested inter-library loans, however, if I don't know what to request on loan, how can I request it? I am surprised that you have so much anger towards people who have questions. 3. I have noticed since I subscribed to this that there are alot of people who know about Indian History. I work for the Chickasaw Nation, but no one can answer the following question for me...I thought maybe someone here could. My ggrandfather, Wesley Nicholas Dean, M.D., practiced medicine in the Chickasaw Nation from 1892 to 1908. In his obituary from the Texas State Medical Journal it states that he passed the Chickasaw Indian Board in 1893. What was the Chickasaw Indian Board? I enjoy this page very much. Thanks to Nalora and all of the others that seem to care that we find our family and put so much time into helping. Also, I live in Pontotoc County and would happy to help here if someone needs it. The following was posted on the Australia-L last week by Jenny Brandis of Meekatharra Western Australia. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- GENEALOGY POX DISCOVERED IN AUSTRALIA! SYMPTOMS: Continual complaint as to the need for names, dates, kinship and places. Patient has blank expressions, sometimes deaf to spouses and children. Has no taste for work of any kind except feverishly looking through records at Libraries and Archives. Has a compulsion to write letters, swears at the postman when he doesn't deliver any mail. Frequents strange places such as cemeteries, ruins, remote country areas. Makes night calls, hides the phone bill from spouse, mumbles to oneself, often a strange far away look in the eye. CURE: No known cure! TREATMENT: Medication is useless. Disease is not fatal, but gets progressively worse, needs a quiet corner in the house where he/she can be alone. REMARKS: The unusual nature of the disease is -- the sicker the patient gets, the more they enjoy it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- The Global Gazette, Vol. 2, No. 2, January 23, 1998 --------------1CB150BE20F9--

We think he is our cousin as David is constantly being mistaken for him, so we know they look a lot alike, but we need his first name to contact him. Also, does anyone know of a Jean that was married to Cecil Driggers in the 20's or 30's. And final, can anyone help up locate a Barbara Hamilton that attended H.S. in the 1970's in Okla. City. Any information on these three names would be greatly appreciated. Instead of taking up space on the list, you can E-mail me privately at kshill@hotmail.com if you would like to. The Dawes roll number information (once you get it) will have the following info: Last Name First Name Dawes # Census # (another document to look at) Miller # (another document to look at) age sex blood Miller Surname Address If there is a Miller number listed the Miller roll will give you: Last name First name miller # Miller Application # (another doc) Dawes # census card # (another document) age relation Deg blood Dawes surname address In the applications you will find (EVEN IN THE REJECTED ONES) Mother, father, Grandfather, Grandmother, Aunts, Children dates of birth dates of deaths, etc. There were up to 5 pages of information required in each of these applications. You can see that a search of indian heritage can get quite expensive and time consuming. Cherokee Names and Facts (a pretty reliable service) charges 50 dollars to do this and will provide hard copies of all the rolls they find your surname in.
