New news on my family has led to me to the infamous Cookson Hills. So far I haven't found what I am looking for. Excerpt of a letter from a distant cousin says that Charles Lewis GREEN lived by the river (Illinois River) and he ate squirrel brains, ewww. Also referred to the Chase Outlaws. Names I have are: Ollie or Oli CHASE, Benjamin Franklin LAWSON, Andrew Lee "Uncle Lee" LAWSON (was killed in a poker game at Poker Bend), Olive "Ollie" LAWSON. Charles GREEN and Olive LAWSON were married and had a slew of children after leaving the Cookson Hills they moved to Claremore and then on to Bakersfield, CA. Anything familiar? Anyone know if there's a book on the history of the people that lived in Cookson Hills? I am looking for something that doesn't have to do with the Dalton Gang. Hi, I'm trying to trace a Hubert Lee Jones b. OK, 1892. Robert L. and Francis or Frances Jones were his parents and were born in Mt Vernon, MO. Hubert moved eventually to Washington State and married two women, a Teresa Buck in 1920 in Walla Walla Washington and less than two years later married a Lucy Michel who was born in MT. They had a baby on 3/1/20 in Spokane Washington and Hubert died working for the Northern Pacific Railroad. Lucy put the baby (my father) up for adoption in Helena, MT sometime in the mid-twenties. Thanks in advance for any info you can give me regarding Lucy Michel or the Jones family.

Indian Pioneer History, Vol. 82, p. 82, Oklahoma Historical Society Interview 12285 with Charles Smith, Fort Towson, OK by Hazel B. Green, Journalist, Nov 30, 1937, p. 7 Dr. Cravens used to have a sawmill north of Doaksville and after he got his arm shot and had to have it amputated, he sold his mill and moved his family to the new town just east of the Kiamichi River on the A & C. Rail Road. They called the town Gilbert. Cravens was appointed Postmaster and had it named Miah, for one of his sons, Jeremiah. Then somebody named it Roby, later it was named Sawyer.

I hope I don't get in t rouble for sending this to the list. I had this site bookmarked for several days and just today used it. The search engine brought me back over 50,000 hits for my family name of Childers. So I sent it to all of my friends and a couple of non-genealogy lists. So far I have received 5 messages from people who used this search engine and broke down brick walls they had battled for years. Evidently this search engine is one super duper fantastic search engine. It not only searches names for genealogy purposes, but will search any word, phrase, thing. I hope it works as well for everyone. FAST Search: All the Web, All the Time Jack Childers in OKC
