I'm still kinda new to this list, I've been on it for a few weeks and followed the graveyard destruction with interest, how come all of a sudden I get these emails saying it was a scam? Who says so? and I remember the first email I received was from [email protected] saying she got an email from a gentleman that lives in Claremore, Rogers County, OK asking her for help on this matter.
Regarding the Claremore area cemetery destruction: Does anyone know if this means that::: 1) the cemetery never existed and it's all a hoax 2) the cemetery exists but was never damaged 3) bulldozing took place many years ago and a) nothing was ever done to restore it and/or prosecute the offender b) the cemetery has already been restored as well as it can be and/or the offender prosecuted 4) none of the above
Whoever first posted the information got it from somewhere and was probably fooled too. Where did this originally come from? No one will believe genealogists or concerned people. It's like crying wolf (by accident of course) and then when the real thing is happening, no one will take it seriously. >In a message dated 02/07/2000 5:09:34 PM US Mountain Standard Time, >[email protected] writes: > ><< Someone just posted to the Okgen list that this may have happened years ago > if at all? Hello Everyone, I want to thank you each for the several replies regarding my question about where Jones, OK. was located. I really appreciate those replies. Now I know where I am looking and a County so I may be able to find out a little more. Thanks again for the very nice replies and information! Sandy [email protected]
Hello Everyone, I wonder if someone can help me here with the name of this town? I have information that the lady I am seeking died in Jones, Oklahoma in 1905. I cannot find the town on any current map. I see there is a Jonesborough and wonder if that could possibly be it. I don't have a County which would help a great deal. Thank You, Sandy [email protected]
I have updated my "History of the Federal Census Records and How to Use Them" essays. With all of the new information on the web it was time for a major face lift and time to add new information. If you are one of the people who is using this information in your genealogy classes you might want to stop by and pick up a new copy. Just please let me know that you are still using it. And for those of you who are new on the net or new to genealogy or simply someone who wants to learn more about this resource - I invite you to drop by and learn about the Census Records. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~haas/learningcenter.html If you know of another list where this information might be of interest please feel free to forward it. Hi Sandy, Funny you should mention Jones OK.... Yes it is a real town, but if you blink you might miss it... I guess you must have blinked. lol Jones is located 5 miles north of Highway 62 & 5 Miles East of the town of Luther, in Oklahoma County. The Canadian river runs right beside the town of Jones, and sometimes runs right through it..... :o) I am currently transcribing the IOOF Cemetery in Jones. I wonder if you're relative might be buried there. I'd be glad to look and see what I might have. Jo < [email protected] >
