Wendy, The directions to the old cemetery are; on the north side of Claremore at the intersection of west Blue Starr Dr. and Industrial Blvd., go north 3 miles. At that intersection you will see a sign on the northeast corner that says "Coline Ranch". From that corner, continue about 1/2 mile farther north on Industrial Blvd. The old cemetery would be about straight east of that point, and was, I think, about 2 or 3 blocks out on the ranch property. I do not think they moved the bodies. If they had, there would be all kinds of records on it. Also, a lot of people would have known about it. I do think there is a possibility that some of the graves might have been robbed. It may have been dozed to cover up that crime. A neighbor who lives north of the old cemetery location told Gerry Payne that it looked to him like some of the graves might have been dug. I haven't heard anything up here in a couple of days. It seems like when the local people find out who the landowner (a local business man) is, they just don't want to pursue it any further. I'll tell you, it's going to be a while before I give up on it. Let me know if you hear of anything happening. If we don't have any luck with what we're working on now, I have a couple more places to go with it. Thanks again. Hi all, In light of what has been happening about the Claremore Cemetery and many others across our U.S.A.. In the County in which I live in , in California a group of folks started a Cemetery Historical Society that goes to the lost family cemeteries and restores them. They had fund raisers and lots of donations in order to bring the old dilapidated cemeteries back to respectable standards. Where there were no head stone or the ones that were there that were badly broken were repaired and replaced and added. Our local monument place donated the stones, lumber companies donated fencing and other materials and nursery's donated their goods. The Society has completed one project and are now working on another. The land owners were afraid that they would lose their land with the Cemeteries being known so the County drew up agreements with the land owners that they would not lose the land nor would they have to maintain the portions that the cemeteries were on, the historical group has agreed to keep up the maintenance and the County agreed to set aside funds to help. So in all we here in Ca. have had a win win situation and the deceased are now being respected. Hello there. Would someone out there in Tulsa land look in the phone book for the Tulsa Corps of Engineers for me? I am trying to locate three members of my family whose bodies were moved, and I was told by Ms. Barbara Rust of the Nat'l Archives, SW Region in Ft. Worth, Texas to contact the Corps of Engineers, but I haven't been able to locate them so far. My family lived in Woodville, OK, for decades. I believe Woodville is now Marshall County. My mother's sister died during the influenza epidemic of 1918-1919, and was buried (we believe) in the old Woodville Cemetery. Sometime later, her body was moved when Lake Texoma was built, but we can't find where she was re-buried. I have always assumed she was buried at Cherry Mound Cemetery in Sherman/Denison, TX, but they have no record of her. The rest of my family are all buried there (the ones that have passed on, that is!) <g> Can you help me? Her name was Rachel Goff, and she was born August 4, 1904 and died January 27, 1919. Hi, My family is in need of a place to hold a family reunion in Oklahoma. What we need is a place to sleep about 100 people over a weekend. A kitchen is preferable but at least a mess hall type is a must. Due to the age of some of the family, we do need air conditioning. If you know of something that might work for us, please let me know. Church camps have been used in the past and they work really well.
