    3. My wife's great-grandfather is Bruce Bothwell who moved from western New York to the midwest, sometime around 1880. We had been originally told that the Bothwell brothers: Robert, Coy, Bruce and Eugene had moved to get away from their father James Bothwell. However, a descendant of Eugene said that the entire family moved to Oklahoma, including the father. The sons ended up scattered throughout Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma. Coy Bothwell was the postmaster of (what else?) Coy, Oklahoma in Woods County from about 1900-1925. It appears that Bruce Bothwell lived there for awhile around 1910. The same descendant who said that James Bothwell accompanied the sons, also said that James Bothwell had moved to Claremore and died there sometime before 1921. His wife Ellen Edsall may have been with him (or may, as another family story goes, have died on the trail). James Bothwell was supposed to have raised horses, possibly quarter horses, so Oklahoma would have been a great place to have moved. Can anyone give me any leads on James Bothwell? The descendant who told us about James Bothwell died shortly afterwards, and, unfortunately, the Wichita library does not seem to have much on the Oklahoma counties. Thanks for your help.
