Hello. I am researching BANKHEAD and MORRISON from Rogers County. Because I know so little about them, I am concentrating on BANKHEAD right now. My great-grandparents, George and Susan BANKHEAD came to Indian Territory from Hill County, Texas in 1887 and settled in and around Chelsea and Alluwee. George's brother, John and his sister, Eador THOMPSON, came at the same time. They are Cherokee. My grandmother, Edie Jane BANKHEAD married Jesse E. MORRISON October 12, 1912 in Claremore. They continued to live in Alluwee and Chelsea for many years. Edie Jane died in 1926, when my mother was born. Jesse died in 1958. From 1947 to about 1989, we used to have a MORRISON reunion the first Sunday after Memorial Day in the Chelsea city park. Sure remember some good times there. I was born and raised mostly in Tulsa.
