My grandfather, James Belden, was born in Talala, OK and was raised in Inola. If you are researching these names, please let me know! Also of interest to me are the APPLEGATE's. James married Katherine Applegate and I have that lineage way back to the 1500's, but always interested in learning more. She lived in Inola also. Her mother's name was Gertrude GILSTRAP, but I know nothing on that side. Any of the above mentioned surnames in Rogers County beginning before the turn of the century are probably related to me. I would like to correspond with any descendants. The Weisses and McCays died or left the area, but there are still Lowther descendants there. Thank you, Beverly

Hello. I am researching BANKHEAD and MORRISON from Rogers County. Because I know so little about them, I am concentrating on BANKHEAD right now. My great-grandparents, George and Susan BANKHEAD came to Indian Territory from Hill County, Texas in 1887 and settled in and around Chelsea and Alluwee. George's brother, John and his sister, Eador THOMPSON, came at the same time. They are Cherokee. My grandmother, Edie Jane BANKHEAD married Jesse E. MORRISON October 12, 1912 in Claremore. They continued to live in Alluwee and Chelsea for many years. Edie Jane died in 1926, when my mother was born. Jesse died in 1958. From 1947 to about 1989, we used to have a MORRISON reunion the first Sunday after Memorial Day in the Chelsea city park. Sure remember some good times there. I was born and raised mostly in Tulsa. Would like to make a connection with other BANKHEAD or MORRISON researchers. Thanks. Robbie Kilgore kilgore@ionet.net
Hello, I'm researching the above named families who lived in Rogers County 1900 until ? The Weisses left in 1926. Some Lowther descendants are still there. Some lived in and around Claremore, some in Tiawah. Thanks, Beverly

My great-grandparents, Joh J. and Ida Flora TRUELL WHITE lived in or near Chelsea, Rogers Co. OK and are on the 1920 and 1920 census. I haven't been able to find them on the 1900 IT census though. Robert TURNER was my grandfather. He married John and Ida's daughter, Hattie. Robert was 39, Hattie 19 when they were married in 1928. He died in 1939 from Black Lung. I know Robert was married three times. I do not know for sure where he was born. My mom though he was boen in Okmulgee. I have not been able to find him on any IT records or the 1910 Rogers Co. Census. Robert's parents were Robert TURNER and Alice Jane DAWSON. Alice died in Rogers Co. Alice's parents were Rueben DAWSON and Jane BAXTER. I do not know if either of them lived or died in Rogers Co. the book Our People and Where They Rest shows the Winganon Cemetery listings, and John, Ida and their son Edgar WHITE are all listed there. Ida's sister, Nannie TRUELL is also buried there. Any one who might have more information, please let me know. If anyone is looking for these families, I have the census page #'s, but haven't gotten the paper copies yet. I'd be glad to share. Cindy
