She had nine siblings, six sisters and three brothers: Irene Spearman, Mary Ingram, Dorrisx Milan, Bell Harris, Eller McDaniels, Nickey Smitherman, Gene Butler, Don Butler and James (Kinky) Butler, Frances and Sam Merwin wed in El Paso, Texas January 30, 1964. Approximately; 7 years later in 1971 they moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma becoming long time residents. She quickly became a valued friend and confidant to all that knew her. "To know her is to love her." She gave birth to seven wonderful children. Three girls Sammie Merwin, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Glenda Palmer of Joplin, Missouri, Debbie Ford of Wichita, Falls, Texas, and Four boys: Bill Merwin, of Elk City, Oklahoma, Scott Merwin of Sentinel, Oklahoma, Troy Brown formerly of Mesa, Arizona, and Timmy Butler of Fort Stockton, Texas. She passed away at 4:15 a.m. February 26, 2009 at the age of 70 in her home nine miles north of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Louise and Emmit Butler, her loving husband Samuel E. Merwin of Cheyenne, her middle son Troy Brown, her two brothers Gene and Kinky Butler, Bell Harris of Big Springs, Texas, Irene Spearman of Brownwood, Texas, Eller McDaniel of Jackonsville, Texas and her great granddaughter Nexis Boden of Great Bend, Kansas. She was survived by her loving sons Bill and Scott Merwin and Timmy Butler and her beautiful daughters Sammie Merwin, Glenda Palmer and Debbie Ford. She left behind 25 spectuacular grandchildren, 32 lovable great grandchildren and four precious great-great grandchildren. She was famous for her words of love and generousity. "If I have a roof you have a place to stay dry". She will forever be loved and cherished by all those that were blessed to know her in life and sorely missed with her passing. Services were held March 3, 2009 at 2p.m. at Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated by Jeff Hurlbut. Burial followed at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
