She passed away February 22, 2008 at Stillwater, Oklahoma at the age of 18 years, 8 months and 29 days. Ashleigh began life as a surprise that grew into a blessing beyond measure. She spent her life savoring the times hunting and fishing with family. No person could have been happier when they got their first deer than Ashleigh. She not only loved to hunt and fish but she loved all her animals, especially Salty the cat. Ashleigh was a dedicated student at Sayre Schools, serving on the Academic Teams, as well as being active in FFA as the Chapter Reporter and showing livestock. She was selected to attend RYLA leadership camp in 2006. She achieved the high point of any high school academic career, graduating as Valediction in 2007. She continued that academic excellent at ODU. Anyone who knew Ashleigh well knew she loved her church. She was active in her youth group, attended church camp every summer, and enjoyed serving on mission trips. Her most memorable trip was to help aid in New Orleans after Katrina, where she was filled with joy from helping others. Ultimately, Ashleigh lived her life loving and cherishing time spent with her family and friends and relishing all new expenses, for she truly understood that our time here is limited. She served as an inspiration to many through times of sorrow and happiness. Her absence from our daily lives will undoubtedly leave us with the bitter sweet resolve that she has gone on to an even greater place. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Buster and Mae Dodson, her paternal grandfather, Orville Hagerman, her Papa Varnell, and an infant brother, Robbie Leon Hagerman.
