He passed away November 10, 2008 at Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 20 days. Robert moved with his parents to Cheyenne, Oklahoma in 1948 and graduated from Cheyenne High School. He entered the United States Marine Corps in January of 1954 and served his country during the Koreean Conflict. He was married to Charlotte Tice in May of 1954. After his discharge he began working for the Thurmond Ranch. He later began working for the United States Conservation District in Roger Mills County as a surveyor. They later moved to Mangum, Oklahoma where he continued with the Farmers Home Administration until his retirement. He returned to Cheyenne and lived there until 2004 when he moved to Reydon to be close to his children. He was a member of the Reydon Community Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Robert Eugene Barton, II, and 1 infant ddaughter, Eugenia Renee Barton. Services will be heldd Thursday November 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Alberta Helton. Burial will be at Cheyenne Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
