In 1934 at the age of seven, Joe moved with his family to the Buffalo community and attended school at Bulo and Sweetwater. Joe cared for his father until he passed away. He was married to Inez Walls in 1950 and Joe farmed and worked in the oilfiled. He was married to Faye Youngblood at Gracemont, Oklahoma on October 13, 1979 and they madde their home in the Sweetwater community except for one year when they livedd in Eufaula. Joe loved to fish, train horses and go on trail rides. He was a member of Sweetwater Assembly of God where he served as a Deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Mike Mong, and 1 sister, Jessi Mong. Survivors include his wife Faye, of the home; 2 sons Johnny Mong, of Sayre, Oklahoma and Wes Mong and wife, Michelle, Sweetwater, Oklahoma; 1 daughter-in-law Laura Neil Mong, of Elk City, Oklahpma; 4 grandchildren Shay Mong and wife, Jamie, Elk City, Oklahoma, Jason Mong and wife, Heasther, Elk City, Oklahoma, Sharisa Heird and husband, Jack, Elk City, Oklahomaa, and Buddy Jo Thomas, of Houston, MS; 13 great grandchildren Taylor, Tanner, MacKenzie, McKnna, Lexton, Harlee, Andrew, Timothy and Sierra; 4 sisters Ina Lancaster, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Joan Scott, Pueblo, Colorado, and Laura Jones, of Bassin, Wyoming and Vera Burckhalter, Sweetwater, Oklahoma, and a host of other relativess and friends. Services will be held on March 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m . at Sweetwater Assembly of God Church officiated by J.M. Ashley. Burial will be at Mulberry Cemetery, Sweetwater, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
