Mrs. Beam died Monday, March 24, 2008, at her home in Sayre as the result of a gunshot wound. The former Sharon Beth Mayfield was born January 5, 1968 in Clinton, the daughter of Betty Lou and Jim O'Neal Mayfield. She attended Sayre schoolsa where she was a cheerleader and on the honor roll. In 1984 she married Elzie Leon Beam at Sayre, and they made their home there. Mrs. Beam had worked several years at the Hensley Nursing Homee. She is survived by two sons, Nick Beam and his wife, Krysta, of Foss, and Cory Beam and wife Amanda, of Schofield Hawaii; one daughter, Chawncey Beam, of the home in Sayre; her father Jim Mayfield, Sayre; one sisster, Mary Lou Ann Sands, Sayre; four brothers, Jim O'Neal Mayfield, Jr., Ranger, Texas, and Timothy O'Dell Mayfield, Walter O'Jay Mayfield and Jimmie O'Brian Mayfield, all of Sayre; and one grandmother, Ellen Marie Simmons, Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Beam's mother and one sister, Betty Jeaan Blackshear, preceded her in death. Burial will be in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
