In October 1902 he was married to Ura Hughey in Highland, Texas. Then in 1906 he and his family moved to Crawford from Erath County, Texas where he lived until moving to Sayre in 1948. He was a member of the Baptist Church since childhood and has been active in the Crawford and Sayre Baptist Church until his illness. His parents, one daughter and one son, five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife of the home three daughters Mrs. Lorena Luper, Arkansas City, Kansas, Lois Painter, Phillips, Texas, Audrey Rorabough, San Luis Oabispo, California, seven sons Johnnie, Leon, Vernon and Gerald of Crawford, Altus of White Deer, Texas and L.B. of Myrtle Beach, AFB, South Carolina, Edwin of Darroguett, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Avitts, Alvin, Texas, Mrs. Emma Underwood, Bluffdale, Texas, 25 grandchildren, 17 great grand children and 6 great great grandchildren.
