Born May 20, 1888, in Jackson County, Tennessee, he was married in 1912 to Miss Jolna Lee at Jackson. He moved to Elk City in 1915 where he lived until 1933 when he moved to Cheyenne were he has resided since. A long time member of the Methodist church, he is survived by his wife of the home address. three daughters, Mrs. Sue Shotwell, Mrs. Helen Harmon and Mrs. Ruby Anderson, all of Cheyennhe; two sons, Ernest of oklahoma City and Avery, Jr. of Macon, Georgia and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held Friday in the Cheyenne Methodist Church with Rev. Howard Roberts and Rev. L. C. Summera officiating. Interment was in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Scroggins Funeral Home of Cheyenne in charge. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
