Surnames: Brown Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5YB.2ACE/6943 Message Board Post: The body of Robert Grady Brown, Michigan City, Ind., Negro, was found about noon Sunday on the North Fork of Red river near Carter on the A.Y. Britton farm about seven miles southeast of Sayre. Britton and his son, Wallace, found the body of Brown lying on a sandbar. The body was very badly decomposed, attendants at the Sccroggins Funeral home, where the body is now, said today. Two Elk City men found the 1941 Pontiac that Brown was driving when the vehicle plunged off the washed out section of the North Fork of Red River bridge at 4 a.m. Friday, May 18, 1951. Charles McCulley and Bill Word found the vehicle in the main river channel about 12:30 p.m. Sunday about 3-4 miles east of the river bridge. Only about one and one-half feet of the top was showing above the river when the men found the car. Cutting through the top luggage, elecricf sewing machine and other items were found in the car. The trunk of the car could not be opened Sunday. The boy of Mrrs. Brown was found on a sand bar about a mile east of Sayre on May 19, 1951. Later on Monday the billfold of Brown was found with identification papers. The couple were recently married and were enroute to Michigan City, Indian, where he is employed with a railroad company.
