Interment will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. John Augustus Woodruff was born June 25, 1923 at Oklahoma City to John A. Sr. and Maude Laws Woodruff and died Tuesday November 6, 2001 at the age of 79. John was raised in Oklahoma City and then attended Oklahoma Baptist University before entering the U.S. Army where he served during WW II at Guadall Canal and the Philippines. After his discharge, he attended Oklahoma University before his marriage to Twila Lovelace on July 6, 1946 at Oklahoma City. They moved to Los Angeles, California where John completed a photography school. John was a loan officer for 15 years in several locations before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada where he was involved in finance and real estate. He moved to Hammon in the 1980's and then to Connecticut so they could be near their son and his family and then returned to Hammon some three years ago where they have lived since. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott; his parents; two sisters, and a brother. Survivors include his wife, Twila Woodruff of the Hammon home; a son, Steven Woodruff and his wife Donna; three grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Steele of Las Vegas, Nevada.
