Floyd Leroy Scrivner was born November 25, 1924 at Reydon, Oklahoma. He was educated in the Reydon school and enlisted in the U.S. Army July 13, 1943. He was inducted at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He received his training at Camp Abbott at Bend, Oregon, and at Fort Ord, California. He was next sent to Europe where he served with the Combat Engineers. He gave his life in the performance of his duty March 1, 1945 somewhere in Western Germany. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. benton F. Scrivner; three sisters, Ethel Hooper of perryotn, Texas; Myrtle Glass of Newton, Kansas and Orma Glee Scrivner of Reydon; six brothers, Clifford, Martin, James, Ralph, Ora and Donald Wayne all of Reydon. He lived to bear his country's arms. He died to save its honor. He was a solider....That millions yet unborn may know the priceless joy of liberty. And we who pay him homage, and revere his memory, in solemn pride redecorate ourselves to a compete fullfillment of the taks for which he so gallantly has placed his life upon the altar of man's freedom. Burial White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma (Cheyenne Star, Dec. 25, 1947) RE-BURIAL OF FIRST COUNTY RETURNED WAR DEAD Services fo the first of Roger Mills County's war casualties to be returned for reburial was conducted at Reydon last Friday. Services for Pfc. Floyd LeRoy Scriner were held at the Community Building last Friday. Burial was in the White Rose cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with the Reydon American Legion post in charge of the burial ceremony. Scriner was killed in March of 1945. He enlised in July of 1943 and was 20 years of age at the time of his death. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benton F. Scrivner of Reydon; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Hooper of Perryton, Texas, Mrs. Myrtle Glass of Newton, Kansas and Miss Orma Lee Scriner of Reydon; six brothers survive who are Clifford, Martin, James, Ralph, Ora and Donald Wayne, all of Reydon.
