Porter was born on August 30, 1850 in the state of Alabama. He came to Texas when a boy and there grew to manhood. He came to Oklahoma Rpil 19, 1892 Unclie Jimmie was married and three children were born to this union. they are Robert, Henry, and Mrs Affie Gabbart and the mother died on september 30, 1888. He passed away on the morning of March 24, 1932 leaving a host of relatives and several grandchildren and many, many friends. He was a member of the Baptist church and lived a Christian life for many years. His funeral was preached in the auditorium of the Durham schoolhouse after which he was laid to rest in the Fairview Cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. There were many beautiful flowers from his many friends which proved the honor and esteem which they held for him. (Cheyenne Star, April 7, 1932)
