Surnames: Otts, Taylor, Maben, Lawson Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5YB.2ACE/2651 Message Board Post: Leanna Taylor was born february 24, 1861 at Saltvulle, Va, and passed away at her home south of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, July 8, 1947 at the age of 86 years, four months and 14 days. She was united in marriage to M. Otts, December 26, 1878 at Weatherford, Texas. She and her husband, in the early days, moved to this county and homesteaded seven miles south of Cheyenne where she made her home untiil her death. Her husband and seven children preceded her in death. Those remaining to mourn her passing are her three daughters, Mrs. Rosa Maben, Henyretta, Oklahoma; Mrs. Maudy Taylor, arcata, California; Mrs. phoebe Lawson, Cheyenne, Oklahoma. She also leaves three brothers and four sisters, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, also a host of other relatives and friends. Grandmother Otis was a true friend to her neighbors and was always ready to lend a helping hand in time of sickness or sorrow as long as her health would permit in the edarly days when doctors were scarce in this part of the country she went in the wagon for miles to help the sick and needy and had the record of helping to bring over 100 babies into the world and would never take any pay for her work. She was loved by her neighbors and will be missed by all. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ at Berlin by W.C. Klopfenstein and the remains were laid to rest in the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. The Scroggins Funeral Home was in charge. (Cheyenne Star July 17, 1947)
