McClain last Sunday came as a shock to the people of our town though his condition was known to be serious. Mr. McClain was a well known citizen and had many friends throughout the county a great number of whom live in our city. He was at the time of his death Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the City of Cheyenne. Mr. McClain had been ill for several days with eryaipeies, which coulpled with constutional weakness made his recovery impossible. He was born in Illinois, and in his early career he moved with his parents to Indiana, and later to Kansas City. About twenty-one years ago he with his parents came to Oklahoma and homesteaded on a farm near Berlin and about fifteen years ago he came to our city and has made this his home ever since. He leaves a mother, a wife, three sisters, three children and a host of friends to mourn his death. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church in this city by Rev. J.M. Wileman, after which the remains were taken to Berlin cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma where they were laid to rest by the side of a former wife and his father who preceeded him into the great beyond. The Star extends to the bereaved, our heartfelt sympathy in this thier hour of sorrow. (Cheyenne Star Feb 21, 1918)
