Saunders who has made Cheyenne his home since 1904 dropped dead in the Shoe hospital last Saturday afternoon. He seemed in every respect enjoying his usual health until the moment that he passed from life. A.T. Saunders, better known as "Dad Saunders" has lived somewhat of a hermit life never having married, and has for a number of years lived by himself. He was a man who kept his own counsel, and hardly engaged in conversation with anyone. However he was well informed and was always on the side of right on every question, and always did what ever duty was assigned to him, or that he felt he should do. His was an example of right living, without telling of his virtues or parading any of his charities before the world. He was a member of Cheyenne I.O.O.F. lodge and also a member of the Eucampment branch of the order of Cheyenne. The subordinate lodge had charge of the funeral ceremony which waas conducted at the Baptist church. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. donnell, pastor of the Baptist church at this place. After the ceremoines at the church the body was taken to the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma where the Odd Fellows performed their concluding ceremonies and tenderly laid his body to rest. Alfred Thomas Saunders was born in Paducah, Ky., January 2, 1853. He left Ky. for Texas when yet young, living in Dallas and Stephens Co., until he came to Cheyenne in 1904. He was converted and joined the Baptist church in Breckenridge, Texas when 25 years old. CARD OF THANKS We desire to thank all those who assisted by acts of kindness in the care and burial of A.T. Saunders, our uncle. We especially desire to thank the Odd Fellows of Cheyenne for their services of love.
