His death came as the reult of a fall a few weeks ago which possibly fractured a hip. His pyhsical condidtion was such that he was unable to withstand the suffering occasioned by the fall. His three sons who survive him were present with him in his last illness. Uncle Perry was really a pioneer in this county and was for years one of the leading figures in administering the affairs of the county. He served for assessor for several years and later was under sheriff under the administration of J.M. Evans as sheriff. This was the last public work Uncel Perry ever did, and it is indeed remarkable that he stayed in public this long as he was near eighty years of age when he served as undershefiff. Uncle Perry kep his mental faculities alert until the end came and managed to ever maintain a cherrful dispostion even to he had been a sufferer most of his life. Uncle Perry had a county wide acquaintance especially among the old timers who will recognize that in his passing the county loses another of its early leader. He was man loved and respected by all for his kind genial disposition. Funeral services were conducted at the graveside Saturday afternoon at the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. Bro. Martin, a friend of many years, was in charge of the funeral. The body was laid to rest beside that of his wife who preceded him almost twenty five years ago. Perry Stratt Taylor was born in Green County, Illinois, near White Hall. He moved to Texas when 23 years of age. He was married to Naomi Goodwin July 17, 1859. He joined the Confederate army two years later and fought through the, civil war filling the office of Lieutenant. During the war he received injuries from which he never entirley recovered. He and his wife joined the Primitive baptist church in their early married life and he remained faithful to his religion all of his life. His wife died January 24, 1902. Three sons survive him who are Ed and Edgar, both of Cheyenne and Stone of Norman. He had two other children, a child dying in infancey and Mrs. John Warren who died December 18, 1918.
