Purcell was born in Plains, Collin County, Texas, March 22, 1863 and died in Wheeler, Texas July 23, 1927, at the age of 64 years, 4 months and 1 day. He was married to Adell Ludixter of Plano, Texas, October 9, 1884. To this union were born 9 children two of whom have preceeded him to the Great Beyond. He moved to western Oklahoma with his family in 1903 and settled on the place 5 l/2 miles southwest of Rankin where they resided until February 1926, moving to Wheeler, Texas where he resided until his death. He was converted in 1893 into the First Baptist Church of Liberty, Texas under the preaching of Rev. E. Newden and was ordained deacon of the church. Interment was made in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. He leaves to mourn his untimely death, his wife and three sons, Homer, Bert and Ernest Purcell, and four daughters, Mrs. S.C. Vaught, Mrs. J.E. Andre, Mrs Norvel Giddens and Mrs. Frank Breeding besides a host of friends and loved ones.
