Tom was born on November 17, 1939, in Crawford, Oklahoma to Thomas Trammell and Saide Rae Wells Polk. Tom grew up in Roger Mills County and graduated from Reydon High School. Tom was drafted during the Vietman War and received his basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and then went to missile school in Ft. Sill. He was then sent to Germany where he served the United States for two years from March 1962 to March 1964. Tom served in the reserves until March 1968 when he received an honorable discharge. Tom spent most of his life driving semi-tractor/trailers. He drove for Safeway out of Oklahoma City for 12 years, until the plant was closed. He then drove for a feedlot in Pampa, Texas; he drove a mail route from New Mexico to Kansas before coming back to Cheyenne where he worked for Smith Fertilizer for the past 6 years. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Sadie Polk. He is survived by one brother Ted Polk of Albquerque, New Mexico. Graveside services were held Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services, Cheyenne, Oklahoma.
