McClure, a pioneer resident of the Durham community was buried in the Fairview cemetery last Thursday afternoon. Death came to Mr. McClure Monday, August 25, 1947 as the result of an automobile accident on Friday, August 22, 1947. The accident occurred near Eldorado, Kansas, a Mr. McClure, his wife and daughter were returning home from a vacation trip to Iowas here they attended a family reunion of the McClure family. The accident occurred about 1:30 in the afternoon when the McClure car with Mr. McClure at the wheel had a headon collision with another car. The driver of the other car was killed instantly. Mr. McClure was rushed to an Eldorado, Kansas hospital where he died three days later. Mrs. McClure received several cuts and bruises and the fourteen year old daughter received a broken arm and other minor injuries. Curtis Edwin McClure was born in Butler County, Kansas in 1880 and died August 25, 1947 as the result of an automobile accident. Mr. McClure came to the Durham community in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma about the year 1901 and homesteaded near there where he made his home continously since that time. On August 30, 1919 he was married to Jessie May Godden. To this union two children were born one of whom preceded him in death. Funeral services for Mr. McClure were conducted in the high school auditorium of Durham Thursday afternoon, August 28, 1947 with Rev. Sandord Cole conducting the services. He was buried in the Fairview cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Immediate survivors are his wife and fourteen year old daughter, Nellie Mae.
