Hill, one of Strong City's oldest and most respected citizens calmly passed away at the musick hospital, elk City, January 2, 1927. Mr. Hill had been suffering for months from a complication of troubles but he bore his afflictions with patience and fortitude. Mr. Hill was born in Louisville, Ky, Aug, 27, 1850. He died January 2, 1927, aged 77 years, 5 months and 5 days. He was married to Miss Hermie Almonrode at Henrietta, Texas July 5, 1885. To this union were born six children, two of whom died in infancy. Four still survive, Mrs. Mable Taylor, Elk City; Mrs. Nellie Cofer, Strong City; Mrs. Naomi Poter, Clinton; Roy, the youngest who lived with his parents at Strong City. They had an adopted son, William D. Hill, who was William D. Smith. He lost his life while in service in France. Besides these Mr. Hill leaves to brothers, Jim and George, three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Wicher of McClure Switch; Mrs. Mollie Keener; Mrs. Alma Schaffner, who lives in Texas and a host of friends to mourn his loss. Mr. Hill became a Christian early in life, uniting first with the Methodist Church South, later joining the Baptist Church, where he lived and died a loyal member. He lived much with his Bible and died a triumphant Christian, anchored to the 'Rock of Ages.' In his going his companion who walked with him in the hold bonds of wedlock for forty odd years loses a faithful husband; his children, a tender and loving father; his brothers and sisters, another chord that binds them to the old family circle; and Strong City, one of her most loyal, hnorable and faithful citizens.
