He was a small boy when he left Tenn. and moved to Texas. Later he went to Beaver County, Oklahoma where he resided two years then moved to El Reno, Oklahoma. From there he came to Roger Mills County in 1902 and bought a farm 5 miles south of old Rankin. He resided there until 1918 when he went to Colorado, from there he moved to San Diego, California. While at Calexico, California he had sunstroke and passed to his reward on July 30, 1931. He leaves to mourn his loss, mother, Mrs. Mattie Rowen of Norman, 6 sisters, Maude King, Lula Stephenson, Una George, Gladys Corbitt, Clara Rowen, all of Norman, Oklahoma; Laura Powell of El Reno, and four brothers, Edgar of Claremore, Oklahoma, Cecil of ponca City, Charlie of Reydon and Claude of Cheyenne and a host of other relatives and friends. He was 49 years, 5 months and 15 days old. Oscar Rowen during his life time in this county lived a life exemplifying the big hearted pioneer that he was. He was a hard working, honest citizen, always ready to lend a helping hand to those needing assistance. As a neighbor there was none better. He possessed a sunny disposition, yet out of his big heart flowed tender sympathy for those in sorrow. He never failed to shed sympathizing tear with those in sorrow and offer consolation to those needing comfort. Oscar was a man who never spoke evil of his neighbors, but to the contrary always found something good in everyone. He was an absolute believer in fair play in all of his business dealings, always refusing to take advantage of his associates. He was a man who could always be depended upon to shoulder his share of responsibilities, in fact it was hard to keep him from assuming more than his share. He was a true and loyal, upright citizen. Funeral services were conducted in Cheyenne Wednesday afternoon in the presence of a host of friends, after which interment was made in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
