Don Anderson, pastor of the Baptist church of Cheyenne officiating. Burial was in the Silent Home cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Scroggins Funeral Home of Cheyenne. Mr. Schmidt died suddenly at his home in Cheyenne, Wednesday January 26, 1949 at the age of 80 years. Paul August Schmidt was born in Coline, Germany, April 15, 1868. He came to Guthrie County, Iowa at the age of 25 years and was soon naturalized as an American citizen. In j1901 he was married to Marie Dora Bornemann. To this union one son and one daughter were born. Fred and Amelia. In 1920 he moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma where he entered the bakery business and resided for twelve years. In 1932 he returned to Crawford where he resided until four years ago when he moved to Cheyenne where he resided until his death. Survivors include his wife of Cheyenne, the son, Fred Schmidt of Crawford, the daughter Mrs. Hugh West of Albuquerque, New Mexico, three grandchildren, Ronald Schmidt, Regina Schmidt and Aleta Schmidt, all of Crawford. Mr. Schmidt was a member of the Lutheran church. (Cheyenne Star Feb. 3, 1949)
