George was a young man just entering into manhood with a bright future before him. He was admired and loved by all who knew him numbering his friends by his acquanintance. He was a young man of clean habits and good morals, having comfessed the Lord as his savior at a meeing held at Durham last May by Rev. Gilliam. He underwent an operation for appendicitis a little over a year ago and since that time he has had to be very careful about doing heavy work for fear of injuring himself. It is thought that probably over extertion was the cause of the locked bowel that caused his death. A surgeon from Oklahoma City was summoned and upon making an incision at once saw that it was to late to render any service that would even prolong his life. George only lived a few hours after the operation, but was conscious until the end. George Willis Keller, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Keller who live near Durham, and who are well known in this community. He was born December 7, 1897 making him 20 years and located in Roger Mills county, which has been his home ever since. He leaves to mourn his death a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Keller, two brothers, John and Bud Keller and two sisters Mrs. C.O. Mangold and Miss Opal Keller, all of whom reside near Durham. The funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church at that place by Rev. W.B. Gilliam of Rockey, Oklahoma, who was pastor in charge last year. It was through the deep feeling of friendship George and the Keller family cultivated for Rev. Gilliam that he was asked to return and conduct the funeral services. After the consoling sermon at the church, the large crowd followed the remains to the Fairview cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma where the body was laid to rest. The Star extends to the bereaved our heartfelt sympathy and condolence. (Cheyenne Star April 4, 1918)
