Guthrie, well known citizen of Strong City died suddenly from heart failure last Sunday afternoon January 8, 1925. His death came as a great shock to his friends and relatives. Mr. John B. Guthrie was born in the northern part of Georgia on February 9, 1857. When he was just a lad he joined the Methodist church, South and was faithful to his church and to Him that knoweth all things, until the day of his death. He married Miss Sallie Thornton in 1879 and was blessed by sons, Oscar, Henry, Aaron, John Custis, Frank and William all of these precede him but the last two. His second marriage was to Mrs. Addie Tadlock of Purdon, Texas, October 28, 1902. To this union were born three children, Grace, Pearl and Forrest. Besides these there survie three brothers, William, Robert and dean, one sister, Mrs. Mary Gillispie, all in Oklahoma. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in Strong City Tuesday by Bro.Grimes of Cheyenne. The remains were then taken to Dempsey cemetery, Dempsey, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma where they were laid to rest.
