Morris, of Cheyenne who died from a heart attack Thursday, June 5, 1947 at 7:00 p.m. were held at the Cheyenne Church of Christ Sunday, June 8, at 3:00 p.m. with R.A. Copelin, Sayre minister, officiating. Mr. Morris was born March 4, 1887 in Taylor County, Texas. He moved to Roger Mills County in 1898 from Texas and has been a resident of the Cheyenne community since that time. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and a former member of the Masonic Order. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Orval Scott of Yakima, Washington and Mrs. L.R. LaMotte of Reno, Nevada; four sons, James of Yuma, Arizona, Bud of Summerton, Arizona, John of Cheyenne, L.D. of Grimes; four sisters, Mrs. Tessie Ratliff of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Onie Johnson of Canadian, Texas, Mrs. Excel Anderson of Texas, and Mrs Lillie Salyer of San Bernadino, California. Burial was in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with the Scroggins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. (Cheyenne Star July 12, 1947)
