McIntyre of Roll, which occurred June 28, 1918, from a lightning shock. He was in the field at work Friday morning when the rain and thunder storm came. He was standing by one of his horses that he was working, to protect himself as much as possible from the rain when he was struck. Verdon Sloan who was working in a field near by, saw him fall, rushed to him, and found him unconscious. He was struck about 11:30 in the forenoon and died about 6:30 in the faternoon, after all that was possible had been done. P.R. McIntyre was born in Adams county, Iowa, December 1, 1880. When a boy his parents moved to Kirksville, Missouri. A number of years later they removed back to Iowas, locating in Des Moines. On March 2, 1904 he was married to Daisy Willows who was born in Lewis county, Missouri, February 3, 1885. To this union was born two daughtgers, one dying in infancy the other now five years of age. Both he and his parents Mr. and Mrs. A. McIntyre moved to Oklahoma in 1905 and have since that time resided near Roll. He has one sister Mrs. J.W. Thompson residing near Guy, N.M. Both Pearl and his wife were baptised into the Christian church about ten years ago. He was a loving husband and a kind father, always cheerful and pleasant, and when leaving for work on that fateful morning laughed a happy farewell. He was sober, honest and industrious and well liked by all who knew him. The words psoken at the services that he was a good, good man and he did what he could, were well selected, also if as much can be said of us, what more could we wish?" He was with his friends and neighbors as with his family, always ready to do what he could. Short services were conducted at the home and also at the graveside by Rev. Ray Enfield of Grand, Oklahoma. Burial Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. For one to be so suddently stricken from our midst cast a gloom over all. To all the bereaved relatives and especially to the sorrowing wife we extend our deepest heartfelt sympathy. (Cheyenne Star July 4, 1918)
