Roy was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Esley Thompson, nae Mt. Rose schoolhouse, and leaves to mourn his loss, father, mother, one brother, William and two sisters, Irene and Ruth, besides a host of relatives and innumerable friends. To know him was to love him. He was a dear obedient son and brother, and ever true to his friends, and he numbered his friends by his acquanitances. Roy was converted and joined the Nazarene church during a meeting in August 1930, and has lived a true consistent Christian life since. Faithful in Sunday school and singing, ready to do his part, the vacancy left by Roy's loss can never be filled. His sunny smile shall never be forgotten and his friends and loved ones hope to join him some day and sing the songs they all loved together over younder where there will be no parting and tears. May his life be an example to us. His life was full of promise. He was a good student6 and a graduate from the 8th grade. Roy met his death while swimming with a group of boys in the lake recently completed on the M.E. Bauman farm. It is not know whether he suffered a heart attack or cramps from remaining in the water so long. He sank in 15 feet of water. When recovered he was given all the aid possible but to no avail. The body was laid to rest in the White Rose cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma mid groups of sorrowing relatives and friends May 2, 1932. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. William Dikes, Nazarene minister of near Roll. Pall bearers were six of his schoolmates, Ernest myers, Royal Myers, John Harrison, Stanley Harrison, Walter Harrison and Roy Hunter.
