Trent, County Commissioner of the Second Commissioner's District of Roger Mills County, died very suddenly at his home southwest of Hammon last Sunday night, September 22, 1932. Mr. Trent had been in poor health for several months, being a sufferer from high blood pressure and other ailments. He seemingly was enjoying his usual health on Sunday evening. He retired about 10:30 and a few minutes later Mrs. Trent heard him make a peculiar sound, and by the time she could light a lamp he was practically dead. The neighbors were summoned but before they could arrive he had passed to his reward. R.M. Trent was born in Tennessee June 2, 1878. He came to Oklahoma in 1907 and was elected County Commissioner in 1922 and faithfully served the people of his district up until the time of his death. He was an ordanied Baptist minister, a good citizen, a good officer, and a loving husband and father. His friends were numbered by his acquaintances. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church of Hammon Monday afternoon in the presence of several hundred friends and neighbors who were grieved at his passing. Hammon Masonic lodge performed the last rites. Burial Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. His successor in office will be appointed by Governor murray at an early date. The Star joins the man friends of Mr. Trent in extending sympathy to the bereaved.
