Watson were held Thursday, July t, 1956, at 10 a.m. in the First Christian church, Perryton, Texas, and graveside rites in Fairview cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma at 3 p.m. officating ministers were Joe B. Fredarick, First Christian church, Perryton, and Jimmy Mitchell, First Christian church, Canadian, Texas. Edna Thomas Watson was born September 17, 1877 in Knowles County, Nebraska. She died July 3, 1956 in Perryton, Texas, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jim Anderson. She, with her family, moved to Virginia when she was five years old and there she grew to womanhood. She attended Milligan college at Johnson City, Tennessee. With her parents she came west in 1900 and filed on land in western Oklahoma then known as Indian Territory. While proving up her claim she taught and also helped organize schools. In 1907 she married George A. Watson, a class mate at Milligan and a minister of the First Christian church. They served several churches in Virginia until the doctors advised them to return west for Mr. Watson's health. He then filed on land adjoining hers. Here they raised their family. Early in life she took up the study of Christian Science and later became a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Mass. She was very active in community affairs. She helped organize and was the first president of the D.W.W. club. Mr. Watson preceded her in death in 1933. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ferman Williams, Canadian, Texas, Mrs. Debs Riley and Mrs. Jim Anderson, Perryton, Texas; two foster sons, Ernest Watson, Durham, and Jack Jones, Portales, New Mexico; two brothers, H.M. Thomas, Hereford, Texas, and Dr. E.F. Thomas, Wichita Falls, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Bertie Tomlinson, Elk City, Mrs. H.M. Hassell and Josephine Thomas, Pampa, Texas. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
