Thornton were held at the Church of Christ in Cheyenne Monday afternoon with Wayne Nation, Lone Star, Texas, former minister of this church here, gibing the sermon. Rev. J.F. Wilkerson, pastor of the Baptist church of this city, read the Scripture. Committal was in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with graveside services conducted by the dd Fellows. Mr. Thornton had been a member of the Cheyenne Odd Fellows Lodge since 1933. In 1950 he became a member of the Masonic Lodge of Cheyenne in which he held membership at the time of his passing. A.L. Thornton had managed the Thornton Laundry in Cheyenne for a number of years. His wide range of friendship was evidenced by the large crowd that gathered to pay last respect at the services held Monday. Arthur Leamond Thornton was born at Wheatland, Oklahoma, on August 23, 1900, and departed this life April 6, 1957. Arthur came with his parents to the Grimes community in 1902. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Anna Waldrop on November 13, 1927. Survivors include his wife, of the home address one daughter, Betty Lou Bonds, Cheyenne; two sons, Dale, Dumas, Texas, and Bill, Kansas City, Missouri; two granddaughters, Connie Sue and Eeborah Ann Bonds, Cheyenne; two brothers, David of Erick, and Chester of Grimes, and two sisters, Beatrice Lewis, Sacramento, California, and Edith Marriott of Sayre.
