Hester, 75 year old retired farmer and officer, were held at the Elk City First Baptist church, Sunday with Rev. Albert Trent of Hammon officiating. Born January 6, 1882, in Alabama, Mr. Hester died Friday, July 5, 1957, in the Western Oklahoma hospital after an illness of 18 months. He was married to Julia Mae Walls in 1904 in Cleburne, Texas. She preceded him in death December 22, 1929. On December 25, 1939, he was married to Mrs. Iva Huntley at Cheyenne, who survives. Mr. Hester came to Oklahoma in 1911 and settled in Roger Mills county. He served as county sheriff for eight years, later moving to Elk City. Mr. Hester united with the Baptist church early in life. Survivors include his wife, five sons, five daughters, one brother, 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildre. Interment was in the Red Hill cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
