Kendall were held Tuesday morning at the Methodist church in this city with Rev. Edward Ditterline, Tipton, and Rev. Gerald Main, pastor of the Cheyenne Methodist church officiating. Committal was in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Scroggins Funeral Home. The Masonic Lodge and the American Legion each had graveside services for a departed member. W.D. "Doug" Kendall died Sunday morning, September 15, 1957 in Northwest Texas hospital, Amarillo, Texas, after a serious illness of a week. W.D. Kendall was born April 2, 1890. Immediate survivors include the wife of the home address, on daughter, Doris Marie Shelton, Goodwell, one son, William D. Kendall, Jr., klahoma City, three brothers, Alton Kendall, Carlsbad, New Mexico, Ellis Kendall, El Paso, Texas, and James N. Kendall of Hot Springs, New Mexico, two sisters, Mrs. Dean Owen of Carlsbad and Mrs. A.R. Johnson of Corsicana, Texas. Doug Kendall retired a year ago as manager of the Paymaster Gin in Cheyenne, a position he had held for many years. He served as a member of the Town Board of Cheyenne until May of this year. He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Cheyenne and was an active member of the Methodist church of this city. During his many years as a business man in Cheyenne Doug Kendall built a strong friendship among the farm people of this county. He was among the substantial citizens of Cheyenne and one who contributed much to its development. The Methodist church in this city was crowded to capacity Tuesday as friends and relatives came to pay last respects to one who had befriended many during his lifetime. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
