He departed this life December 7, 1957, at 12:15 a.m., at Cheyenne, Oklahoma, at the age of 76years, 5 months and 13 days. He was converted at the age of 19 and united in marriage to Siddie Green in 1900. He united with the Baptist church 1 month after his marriage and remained an acrive member the rest of his life. In the early days of Oklahoma history he was a leader in church, school and civic aaffairs in the Breezy Meadowq and surroung communities. He moved to Cheyenne in 1924 where he resided until his passing. He is survived by his wife, Siddie Martin, the four children, Mrs. George (Lois) Wright of Strong City, Mrs. Catherine Jackson of Lefors, Texas, Mrs. Rula ____(not readable) of Yeaager, Oklahoma, and Lloyd Martin of Crawford; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, one sister, Minnie Oranoff of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, 1 brother, Bert Martin of Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and tried to share the Christian spirit to all with whom he came in contact. Services for Mr. Martin were held in the Baptist church in Cheyenne Tuesday afternoon with pastor, Rev. J.F. Wilkerson preaching the funeral sermon. Committal was in the Silent Home cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Scroggins Funer Home of Cheyenne.
